Did you know....

Photography was once reserved only for the affluent.  A gallery of framed faces in the foyer was a most prestigious domestic attribute.  Given the exorbitant costs of portrait photography in the late 1800's, it was unthinkable to discard a valuable photograph due to a broken relationship.  Rather than throw the entire portrait in the trash, the undesirable subject would simply be folded back or scissored off.  The slender frame pictured, which found the height of its popularity after 1910, later came to be known as a "Dear John or Lover's Quarrel Frame" after the war era, thus accommodating the lonely heart beautifully!

Happy New Year!

WOW, I can't believe it is 2010 already! Seems we were just getting ready for Y2K and ready to live in bomb shelters underground for as long as it took for the world to stabilize itself again!

I have lots of wonderful photos from the holidays that I will be posting over the next few days. We had several strange "turn of events" during our holidays that I can't wait to share! Until I get those posted, how about posting some of your events from the holidays?
